Happy Holidays to all of our Kapowsin Families!
We had a great November. The Peter Pan play brought smiles to many of our children’s faces and wonderful opportunities for those involved in the play. We would like to thank our brave teachers and directors Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Browning, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Beilke for organizing this great play.
We also had the sixth grade auction and bingo night in November. Thank you to Shelly Edminster for all the time and hard work putting this together. It was a great success and a fun time for all who were involved! Most important we would like to thank all of our parents, without you none of these events would have been the success they were.
We have some fun and exciting things coming up for the kids this month. On December 9th sixth grade will be hosting a Pancake Feed. The kids can come at regular time on late start day and will get to enjoy a pancake breakfast, Zumba and much more until the school bell rings. December 11th we will be having our first JR. battle of the books. What an amazing turn out of kids we have had join. Thanks to Mrs. Atkinson for making this happen and making reading in Kapowsin fun and exciting every day.
This time of year is hard on so many of us especially in this economy. Let’s take this opportunity to teach our loved ones the blessing of helping someone in need. You can find a list of items that are always appreciated in our Kids in Need program right inside this newsletter. What better way to show our children the spirit of the holidays than helping out some of our local families in need.
We wish you all the best of holidays.

November is here!
WOW! What an amazing October we had! Thanks to your wonderful support, this year’s Walk-A-Thon was a tremendous success! Not only was it profitable, but it was wonderful to see the school and community come together. Thank you to all the students (their rosy cheeks were cute as they hustled around the field), the parents, the staff, and the teachers, for your support. A special thanks to Sonya Statezni and Becky Robinson for a job well done!
This year at Kapowsin, we want everyone to feel welcomed and needed. For that reason, we would like to announce that we are planning a family get-together, so that we can meet those that have recently joined our school. We are still ironing out all the details, so keep checking those back-packs for this upcoming event!
As always, there is something fun lurking around the corner at Kapowsin…get ready for a fun-filled night of BINGO and the Sixth Grade Auction. Thanks to the hard work of Shelly Edminster, the many donations from our community and from our Kapowsin families, there will be some amazing auction items to bid on! You won’t want to miss this night!
Some additional fun on the horizon is the PTA Reflections Program. We would encourage all of the students to participate in this program. The 2009 Theme is, “Beauty is…” It is a great opportunity for your child to express themselves through creative writing, photography and visual arts. We all have future artists at our kitchen tables…we just need to help them be aware of the opportunities!!! All submissions are due November 3rd, 2009. As always, we wish you a peaceful and joyful month.
Sincerely,
Sue, Tricia, Angela, Bonnie, LouAnn and Christine

Warm Autumn Greetings!
It was so wonderful seeing all the new and returning faces at school. We hope that everyone is adapting to the new schedule. The first two weeks of school were very busy for the PTA!! We have been thrilled with the number of people who have signed up to be members.
“What does having a PTA membership mean?” It allows you as a parent, teacher, or relative to help your child experience extra events at the school. When your child comes home excited about taking part in the walk-a- thon, an assembly, enjoying a special field trip, or inviting the whole family to a Family Fun night, Science Fair, or a variety show, you have made a difference in your child’s life through your support and membership to Kapowsin PTA. Thank you to those of you who signed up this past month as new PTA members. It is amazing to realize how much you have helped just by signing up. Each membership we receive helps a child with transportation for a field trip!!!
We would also like to thank the many businesses in our area that helped support our second annual walk-a-thon. Please view the back page of our newsletter and make an extra special effort to support those businesses that are supporting our children. They have already made a big difference for our kids!!!!
To recap some fun that is coming our way…The Walk-a-Thon already started off with a bang!!! We encourage you to come and watch the kids walk on October 2nd. It will be a lot of fun!! Remember, that October 19-23rd will be Student Conferences, and during that time, the Scholastic Book Fair will be hosted in our library October 19-22nd. And speaking of fun….Our first Family Fun Night of the year will be October 30. Come and “Walk the Plank”, play pirate games, and throw your favorite scallywag into Davey Jones’ locker!!! We will have a Trunk-Or-Treat in the school parking lot. All parents that would like to decorate their trunk and/or supply candy, please contact one of us. It is a very safe and exciting night, more information will arrive shortly.
We wish you a great October!!!
Sincerely,
Sue, Tricia, Bonnie, Angela, LouAnn and Christine
